Lazy Days & Summer Rays -Stick it Down

I have been asked to guest design for the Stick it Down Team this month.

I know summer is winding down for most of us but there are a few days left to enjoy. I made this card as an ode to summer!

This is the design sketch that I was given to work with. The first thing that I noticed is the eye catching pieces that are positioned in a triangular position. This is a quite popular design in card making and scrapbooking. It has a way of drawing the eye.

Here is my interpretation of the above sketch. I hope you enjoy it and also that you enjoy these last few precious days of summer.

Supplies used in the creation of this card are:

Doodle Bug Design– Sweet Summer Collection paper, cardstock, doodle-pops 3D sticker, Icon stickers (beach ball & ice cream)

Pinkfresh Studio– emphemera (last days & summer rays), enamel dots

These were all products that I received in my July SCT Sampler.

Dollar Store Crafts

Just a quick post today to show you what I made with the rest of the stuff I bought at the dollar store the other day. (Same shopping trip,as the black tinted glasses that I etched in previous post! 😉)

I while back I bought 3 rolls of burlap from the dollar store for $3 per roll. I have hung onto this all summer but I did see that these rolls are still available at my local dollar store. I hope this is something that they stock regularly because it is a great deal and I want to make more burlap crafts!

I make this autumn wreath for about $12 in supplies and it took a little less than 1 hour to complete! ALL of the supplies came from Dollar Tree except for the burlap that was Dollarama.

In the craft section I found the wire wreath base in square and round shapes. I bought both but only used the round one for this project. The patterned wire ribbon, mesh, pumpkin 3 pack, leaves in a pack of 2, scarecrows in a pack of 2, metal word 3 pack (saved 2 for future projects) and 2 pack of bows. Each package or item was $1.25!

I loved making this project! I am going to have to try this dollar store crafting again!

Cricut

Glass Etching With Cricut

I was killing time in a dollar store last week when I found some gorgeous black tinted tall glasses. I put 4 of them in my cart along with about $40 worth of other stuff. I knew just what I wanted to do with them and today I finally found a little time to work with them!

A bit of back story here:

My 11 year son has been bugging, I mean seriously driving me crazy, to watch the movie IT. I told him under no circumstances was he allowed to watch it but that I would find him a different show that would be a little more age appropriate but was still “scary”. I had watched a few episodes of Supernatural a couple years ago but for some reason I never really got into it. I decided to give it another try but this time I would watch it with someone. That someone is my son. (It is rated PG according to Netflix so judge me if you will) Anyways he loves the show and we have been binge watching it all summer. We are currently half way through season 8. He loves it so much that he is going to dress up as Dean for Halloween. I will post more on that closer to Halloween as he wants us to make a hunting kit and everything!

Back to the present:

As I said above my son loves Supernatural. I thought that these black tinted glasses would make great themed glasses for him. I had purchased the svgs previously to make t-shirts (we still have to do that!) I cut the svgs out of a stencil vinyl with my Cricut Explore Air 2 and weeded out the parts that I wanted etched into the glass, placed the stencil on the glasses and made sure that it was firmly attached especially around the inner edges where I wanted the etch to be crisp.

I put a generous amount of Rustoleom Tub & Tile etching cream. I left it on for about 15 minutes. I scrapped off as much etching cream as I could without moving the stencil then rinsed the rest off in my stainless steel kitchen sink.

After all of the rinsing I removed the stencil and rinsed again. I love the finished look! I was only able to make 3 this afternoon because I didn’t realize that I had broken the 4th glass on the way home from the store. I will go back tomorrow to get a few more of these black tinted glasses!

Here is the set of 3. If you are a fan of the show you will know the significance of these symbols.

I am most excited with how this one turned out! I had planned on giving these to him for Christmas but I was so excited with how they turned out that I decided to give them to him today! I will work on a different theme for his older brother.

Supplies needed

  • Cricut Explore to cut stencil (or prepurchased adhesive stencil)
  • Stencil vinyl
  • Etching cream (I used Tub & Tile by Rustoleom)
  • Sponge paint brush
  • glass

Tulips Vase-Stamprints

Hi I am back with a couple of projects that I have made using the ever lovely Stamprints digital images.

I chose a clean, simple yet very elegant image. The image that I chose this month is the Tulips Vase.

I printed two of the tulips images. I was undecided what colour combo I would do for my project so I used both of the images coloured.

Here is card #1!

And here is card #2

With both projects I used the same supplies but in different colours.

Here is my supply list: Tulips Vase digital image from Stamprints, Spectrum Noir markers, textured cardstock is by Bazzill Paper, enamel hearts Doodlebug Designs, Happy Birthday Stamp By Lawn Fawn, CTMH polka dot ribbon, white cardstock Recollections

You can find the Tulips Vase image as well as many other Stamprints images on Etsy here Stamprints Etsy
